Tipperary GAA confirm Liam Cahill will continue as senior hurling manager

Liam Cahill will remain as Tipperary senior hurling manager for a further three years after the county board re-ratified the All-Ireland winning coach at its meeting on Monday night.

The Ballingarry man's new deal will keep him in charge of the Premier County until the end of the 2029 season.

The board have put an emphasis on developing the next generation of Tipperary talent with Cahill at the head, with a strong focus expected to be placed on young players during a period of regeneration.

Cahill guided Tipperary to All-Ireland glory in 2025, beating Cork 3-27 to 1-18 at Croke Park. His side's defence of the Liam MacCarthy Cup proved to be disappointing though, as the Blue and Gold exited the competition after a heavy defeat to Clare in the Munster round robin phase.

The season's performance led to uncertainty over the 48-year-old's future, but the Tipperary county board made it clear that they back  Cahill in bringing the county back to the pinnacle.

Cahill built a dynastic record managing underage level with Tipperary including capturing the All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship in 2016, the All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship in 2018 and the inaugural All-Ireland Under-20 title in 2019. He also won back-to-back Munster U20/U21 titles.

The summer period ratification gives Tipperary hurlers plenty of time to re-assess before the start of the 2027 campaign, where they will vie for a 30th Liam McCarthy Cup.

There are no details on Cahill's backroom team as of yet.
