The Rugby World Cup, which began a lifetime ago in the summer sun in Saint-Denis, ended in the winter rain in Paris, with the majestic Siya Kolisi being handed the William Webb Ellis trophy by A Question of Sport's greatest captain, Bill Beaumont. 

South Africa, the defending champions and the team everyone loves to hate, spent the entire tournament telling everyone how they were going to play, explaining every tactical decision to the press and public in forensic detail, even taking requests on social media at one point on how they could do better. Then, like a pool shark nominating their preferred pocket for potting the black, the Springboks contrived to beat the All Blacks in a slugfest.
