Antiques: Sheikh's treasures from one of the most spectacular apartments in Paris
The Paris home of His Highness Sheikh Haman bin Abdullah Al Thani, of the fabulously wealthy Qatari ruling family.
Contents from one of the most remarkable private interiors in Paris will come under the hammer in a series of sales at Sotheby's next week. The home of His Highness Sheikh Haman bin Abdullah Al Thani, of the fabulously wealthy Qatari ruling family, in the heart of the 7th arrondissement overlooking the Eiffel Tower, reflects an exacting eye and a distinctive vision of beauty.
The collection was shaped over decades by the Sheikh and his longstanding creative collaborator, the legendary decorator Alberto Pinto. More than 1,400 lots, from old masters to decorative arts, silver, antiques, furniture, paintings and design, will come under the hammer in a series of five auctions starting next Monday (November 2).

Highlights include a series of paintings by José Maria Sert, portraits by Bernard Boutet de Monvel and a pair of Baroque Italian carved giltwood settees made in Genoa 1740-1744. Once at the Palazzo Carrega-Cataldi (now the Chamber of Commerce) in Genoa, they are estimated at €400,000-€600,000.
