Flick through the 32 colourful pages of 'Biodiversity in Action'

Would you like to know what small actions can deliver a big boost to nature, our 32-page 'Biodiversity In Action' booklet is a good place to start.
We all have a part to play in protecting biodiversity, says Dr Liam Lysaght, CEO of the National Biodiversity Data Centre.
He explains to journalist Rita de Brún how volunteers known as 'Citizen Scientists' are helping to safeguard Ireland's biodiversity by gathering data that will help protect the natural world in which we live.
There are around 31,000 species sharing the island of Ireland, but we have only assessed data on about 10% of those. Gathering data helps to keep us informed on how well — or otherwise — the natural world around us is surviving.
In the publication, Rita de Brún also brings us insights into how our local communities, farmers and eco-friendly leaders in business are working to help protect biodiversity, monitoring butterflies and bumblebees and creating eco-friendly gardens and public spaces.
Meanwhile, also in our colourful 'Biodversity In Action' publication, gardener Dermot Ahern offers a comprehensive guide to composting in your own garden; it's easier and cleaner work than you might think. Plus it will save you money on buying compost each year.
Dermot also offers a guide to creating your own garden pond, as well as steps you can take to ensure your garden is as friendly as possible towards biodiversity.
If you're wondering what small steps you can take towards helping biodiversity, you'll find an attractive starting point in the pages of this booklet.
