Expensive start for the Poor People’s Party

I WISH to establish a new political party. I must have 300 members and 150 of those must be on the voting register before my Poor People’s Party is officially recognised by the state.

Expensive start for the Poor People’s Party

Who makes up these rules, and why?

If the application to be registered is turned down, one has to send approximately 700 with the appeal to Leinster House for further consideration.

Can the rules be changed for the changing times we find ourselves in? Those rules were set to stop the development of democracy and prevent little parties growing so that the big parties can continue to rule the roost for big business.

There are many little parties in other countries; some are even in government. It’s time to change the rules.

Martin Ford,

The Poor People’s Party,
