Mobiles worse than drink

THE dangers of using a mobile phone while driving have obviously not sunk in yet. Now the UK’s Transport Research Laboratory has revealed that using them in this way is more dangerous than drunk driving. Apparently, while driving at 70mph, “it takes hand-held mobile phone users half a second longer than normal to stop and a third of a second longer to react.”

More alarmingly, both hand-held and hands-free mobile phone users “missed more road signs than drunk drivers.” Perhaps the answer is tougher enforcement of the new legislation?
