Why we should not have a day of mourning

THE call for a national day of mourning for John Paul II has huge support. However, should we not be celebrating his life on earth and transition to eternal life rather than mourning his passing?

A national day of celebration would be more appropriate. The Government declared a national day of mourning, in the national economic interest, for those killed on 9/11 in the USA.

This was a cynical act, followed by our active participation in the illegal Iraq war by inviting US troops to use Shannon airport.
