THE gardaí are checking on residents around Shannon airport and Dromoland Castle in case they might pose a threat to George W Bush.

I’m confused. Bush, I thought, was the threat. If he were not coming, there would be no threat to the people of Shannon.

I believe that this kind of garda activity is an invasion of privacy and is totally uncalled for.
