ON RTÉ’s Prime Time on April 4, Sinn Féin’s Pat Doherty said he wished to ‘condemn unreservedly’ the murder of Denis Donaldson in Co Donegal.

However, in June 1996, Mr Doherty refused to condemn the killing of Det Garda Jerry McCabe, saying: ‘I abhor the politics of condemnation.’ Has Mr Doherty undergone a Pauline conversion?

Or is it that, in the eyes of Sinn Féin, some killings are more deserving of condemnation?
