THE Nazi leaders were put on public trial in Nuremberg in 1946. Eichmann, CEO of the Holocaust, was put on public trial in Israel in 1961.

If the Americans put most of the Guantanamo Bay prisoners on trial, using methods that have strong echoes of the King Henry VIII trial (and subsequent execution) of Saint Thomas Moore in 1535, then we should all fear for the rule of law in the future.
