THERE is universal disgust at the images of US soldiers abusing Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison in Baghdad.

Blair should revisit a case closer to home

The statement by the British prime minister Tony Blair that such appalling behaviour is in “direct contravention of all policy” is to be welcomed.

Any soldier in any army found guilty of committing such vile acts should be discharged forthwith and never reinstated.
