Scenic or not?

THE Irish Examiner of June 7 devoted approximately three column inches to a High Court decision to uphold a decision by An Bord Pleanála to grant planning permission for a wind farm within five miles of Gougane Barra National Forest Park.

It appears the board ignored its own inspector’s advice and somehow managed to fudge the line, designating some areas scenic and others not, on a large scale map in the Cork development plan to (incorrectly) “... conclude that the site did not lie within a designated Area of Scenic Amenity.”

While I strongly support renewably energy, I do not believe we should contaminate our most scenic areas with such structures.
