Minister’s approach was inappropriate

PRIME TIME on RTÉ 1 (May 24) had a discussion on the horrific accident near Navan in which five girls lost their lives. The main issue was the absence of seat belts on school buses.

Minister’s approach was inappropriate

I was infuriated by Defence Minister Willie O'Dea's attempt to hide behind "the norm" in other countries with the kind of statistical diatribe normally used to fudge any issue. His demeanour was aggressive and confrontational and totally inappropriate considering the sensitivity of the subject.

I am not party political, but this performance by Mr O'Dea seemed to typify the arrogance of this Government.
