THIS is the 25th anniversary of the ill-fated Fastnet yacht race in 1979.

Lifeboat Day on Cape Clear will have a Fastnet theme this year. As many as possible of the 1979 lifeboat crew, along with the present crew, will visit the island for a fundraising day.

To commemorate the 1979 race, a stone with the names of those who perished will be erected in the harbour area of Cape Clear.
