FOR the workers involved it is obviously a shame that Bewley’s cafes are to close their doors. Genuine sympathies to them.

For the rest of us, it’ll be hard to think of any other icon that so accurately symbolises Dublin city.

That is to say: overcrowded, overpriced and possessed of a laughably inflated sense of its own importance.
