Do-gooders are interfering with the rest of us
1. They refuse to entertain any proposals for ventilation, no matter how effective.
2. They ignore the considerable number of studies that show that second-hand smoke is not dangerous due to the small fraction of smoke in the air.
3. They claim that this proposed ban is widely-supported by the public. If this were true, publicans, being anxious to serve the public, would have curtailed smoking long ago.
4. The fact that health statutes are being used to implement this ban is most dangerous as it gives the government almost unlimited powers (where even people who do not mind cigarette smoke are prohibited from working in a non smoke-free environment).
Such anti-smoking ‘health’ measures were proposed by the recently-defeated socialist government in British Columbia, Canada. The new government found that such measures were completely unwarranted.
5. Finally, if there were separate areas for smokers, how would the non-smokers be adversely affected?
The hidden agenda is this: some supporters of the ban are against all smoking simply because they do not like it. As with so many do-gooders, they wish to make the world a better place by improving others.
