We don’t want troops returning in body bags
The survey, carried out in a telephone poll of EU member states, says that over 7,500 people were contacted in Ireland.
I won't argue with that, even if I'm not certain as to the survey's accuracy or authenticity. The EU comes up with some fairly cockeyed conclusions from time to time.
Perhaps this is another.
If the Government allows our troops, presumably under US control, to be sent to prop up the illegal occupation of Iraq, how much sympathy would there be if young Irishmen came home in body bags for supporting Bush and his fictitious war on terror? It is quite probable that anger at troops being sent there in the first place would be the emotion most felt by the Irish people.
It would be insane to send our army as cannon fodder for America as it pursues its own economic interests.
Let's hope it doesn't happen but there's no telling with Bertie and Co.
