My mother longs to find her relatives
Her birth certificate gives the name and address of her father and mother as James Walsh and Mary Walsh (formerly Power) and the address as 14 Edmond Street, Cork.
During World War II my mother was evacuated to Wales.
During that time her parents called at the orphanage to collect her as they were emigrating to Canada. By now they had three more children.
The nuns did not keep records as to where the children were located in Wales, so they had to leave without her.
All her life my mother has longed to trace her family.
It is unlikely, but not impossible, that her parents are still alive, but if she could be put in touch with any of her blood relatives, it would be wonderful for her.
I don’t think there is any longer an address such as Edmond Street, Cork, but there might be someone who knew of the family and can throw some light on what happened to them.
