Cork city wastewater works to bring eight weeks of traffic and pedestrian disruption

Works at the Coal Quay pump station will involve specialist contractors removing equipment, cleaning facilities and clearing historical debris

Uisce Éireann has announced that works are being undertaken to deliver improvements to Cork city’s wastewater infrastructure in the Coal Quay area, with the public advised that temporary pedestrian and traffic management measures will be in place.

The water utility company said the works follow on from similar works which took place on Grand Parade in early 2026 and form part of its “ongoing investment in wastewater infrastructure in Cork city”.
