Pedestrians need to check insurance cover

YOUR correspondent Phil Garde from Australia (Irish Examiner, August 27) must have found some mysterious town in east Cork where “motorists are found to be very friendly... unlike other countries, where speed seems to be mandatory!”

Pedestrians need to check insurance cover

Has anyone else met these very friendly motorists?

Maybe east Cork is different, but here in Bandon anyone trying to cross the streets would need to check their insurance cover first.

As for pedestrian crossings, the main road from Cork bisects the town and caters for three lanes of traffic. There is no facility for pedestrians on this road. The rest of the town is just as bad. Pedestrian priority points are urgently needed here.
