Let them deliver peace in our time

THE impasse in the peace process, ostensibly over a photograph, is a sad reflection of the inability of both sides to recognise that the time for the particular manifestations of their beliefs is now passed.

Perhaps it is because of the extreme defensive positions which they have felt forced to occupy for so long that Mr Adams and Rev Paisley seem unable to lead their followers to a society which peaceful people might describe as normal.

They have every right to stand up for what they believe in and on behalf of their communities.
