THE right to protest must be preserved. After all, that’s what, in part, 1916 was all about in Ireland.

I still feel for Ireland — you should feel for us

For the USA, 9/11 was as momentous and unexpected (and undeserved, for that matter) as Pearl Harbor.

If, without warning, terrorists killed hundreds of uninvolved Irish citizens in an attack on Bus Áras or the GPO in Dublin, would not Irish people feel put out?

As an Irish ex-pat of some 50 years, I still feel for Ireland. You must feel for Americans, too. We were attacked blindly, and thousands of innocents were killed. Should we forget?

Like de Valera in his day, Bush is not a slave to instant opinion.
