AIB’s crime was to be cheaper than the rest
1. AIB were, and still are, generally 0.5% cheaper than their competitors for foreign money.
2. AIB offered a product at a price and nobody was obliged to purchase it.
3. When I bought foreign currency I sought their price and that of others. AIB's was the cheapest. I was happy with it and that was why I did business with them. It was a freely entered into contract by both parties.
A man is suspended, his career is in ruins because the public lynch mob perceives it to be his fault. It is fashionable to take potshots at banks not forgetting judges, of course. Find a scapegoat fast and do not worry if he is totally innocent just destroy him.
Don't bother with courts, charges or trials. This is the new Ireland in a hurry.
AIB's crime on, say, a €100,000 transaction was to be €500 cheaper than their competition.
