Anchor to serve as a shipwreck memorial

A SHIPWRECK in 1915 off the Waterford coast caused the loss of all on board, including two Corkmen.

Anchor to serve as a shipwreck memorial

This is the 90th anniversary of the tragedy and the ship anchor is being placed as a memorial to the crew in Boatstrand, Co Waterford, close to the site of the wreck.

The ship was part owned by Messrs Fitzpatrick of Lapps Quay, Cork, and the two Cork seamen who lost their lives were John Falvey, aged 17, of 3 Paul’s Avenue, Cork, and Michael Sullivan, aged 60, of Courtmacsherry. I would be grateful if relatives of the men would contact me as soon as possible as the memorial will be erected on July 2.
