Where is the traffic watch scheme?

WHAT has happened to the traffic watch scheme? In your edition of May 3 Neans McSweeney wrote of how highly successful the pilot traffic watch scheme had been in Tipperary, Waterford, Kilkenny, Wexford and parts of Wicklow.

Where is the traffic watch scheme?

The scheme co-ordinator, Insp Mick Melia, believed that it had played a big role in cutting down accidents, injuries and fatalities. Your report said that Garda Commissioner Pat Byrne would shortly roll out the scheme nationwide.

Had anything happened since? If it has, why has it been kept so quiet? This scheme should be shouted from the rooftops.

We need it urgently.
