Voters also have questions to answer
1. Knowing the appalling state of the health system, we accepted promises that the situation would be rectified once re-elected. How come we voted them back into power considering they had done little in their previous term.
2. How come, knowing Fianna Fáil's history in relation to tax evasion/planning irregularities and other questionable practices, we again believed their utterances that this sort of behaviour was a thing of the past?
3. In the run-up to the last election issues concerning facilities/funding for senior citizens, young folk and those with various disabilities were at crisis point. Were we really that gullible in believing if they were re-elected, they would actually do something for those most vulnerable or did we really care?
4. Fianna Fáil's history in relation to Irish railways is not a happy one. Did we believe they could deliver an urban railway system on time and within budget I could go on. It's very easy to criticise a government for failing to live up to promises.
However, if a party has a record of such behaviour and they are put back into power, you can't entirely blame them. If you walk behind a horse and he kicks you, to repeat the mistake is foolhardy.
