For two weeks before the All-Ireland football final, the sign prominently displayed above an East Kerry licensed premises proudly declared: “WELCOME HOME, SAM.”

Obviously Sam had neglected to mention that he had other plans in Armagh. No doubt, the sign has joined the five-in-a-row mugs from 20 years ago. A case of history repeating itself, perhaps.
