Shameless Boris - Johnson’s EU-Hitler analogy

IF Boris Johnson — former mayor of London, David Cameron’s bête noire and the leader of Britain’s ‘Leave’ campaign in the EU membership referendum was a buffoon it would be possible to discount his weekend outburst, when he compared the European Union’s ambitions to Hitler’s.

However, he is not a buffoon, so the outburst takes on an altogether more sinister and nasty complexion.

It may be outrageous but it is not surprising — Johnson’s position on the EU has far more to do with his ambitions to lead the Conservative party than it has to do with principle.

It may be a crumb of comfort to Irish people, especially those whose income depends on the status quo being maintained in Britain that the ‘Leave’ campaign has become so desperate.

Yesterday’s opinion from a rating agency that Brexit would not have a huge impact on our economy adds to that feeling but we should take every opportunity to speak to our British friends, on both islands, to try to convince them to vote against the position so shamefully advanced by the shameless Johnson this weekend.
