Credit unions must be allowed to expand

Your article ‘Time to give credit to the Credit Unions — Regulation row’ (Irish Examiner, November 27) exposes a deficit in democratic governance together with a total disregard for the common good.

All efforts by government to regulate further this ‘people’s bank’ should be resisted with every means possible.

The controlling arm of the banking industry unduly influences every aspect of Irish life. This is reflected in current legislation and the refusal to allow the Credit Union Movement to broaden their services for the benefit of all.
