A merger is a big step and in the city and county, many just won’t take a chance

It would be impossible to please everyone on the Cork City/County merger.

It was thought the committee would decide on a boundary extension, but after submissions from both sides and research, they came to their majority conclusion that a merger would be best overall for the city and county.

What is surprising is how a modest boundary extension was not possible in the last 20 years into Douglas and Togher, which have expanded greatly into the county.
