Fáilte Ireland: Survey of tourists

A SURVEY by a leading American travel magazine proves that Céad Míle Fáilte is not just a tired cliché but a fact.

Fáilte Ireland: Survey of tourists

Three Irish cities – Galway, Dublin and Cork – have made it into the top four friendliest cities in the world in the annual reader survey of Travel + Leisure which is based in New York. Galway is in first position, with Dublin and Cork coming in third and fourth place respectively.

The magazine is a major influencer of public opinion among Americans who holiday abroad and being seen to be friendly is hugely important to their travel experience.

As anyone involved in the Irish tourism industry will know, it is essential not just to match expectations but to exceed them.

Tourism Ireland is, naturally, delighted at the result of the survey. As CEO Niall Gibbons put it, “our research shows that friendliness of our people is one of our unique selling points”.

Visitors to our shores do not expect sunshine here but, like ourselves, they expect and enjoy the bit of craic.
