Pre-natal defects are no reason to end a life

I was aghast at Deputy Clare Daly’s attempt to legalise abortion in the case of so called pre-natal lethal defects, where the baby might die soon after birth.

Pre-natal defects are no reason to end a life

Do these people ever think of the hurt they cause to handicapped people in Ireland and their parents?

Sometimes pre-birth diagnosis are wrong and perfectly healthy babies have been born and others survived much longer than predicted.

Pregnant women in such situations deserve every support.

But ending a life and then crying crocodile tears about being unable to bring the body back from England for burial is not the answer.

If the principle is adopted that you can theoretically kill a human being because you think he or she has not long to live anyhow. Just where will that end?
