The purpose of life is a life of purpose

In the matter of Stephen Fry v George Hook and religion, the former is as much on the right track as the latter, given that even the Christian Bible teaches that we refrain from entertaining certainty because of the havoc religion and man-made gods can, and do, create in the world.

The purpose of life is a life of purpose

For that reason, Mr. Hook’s pounding of the airways, and the newsprint, with religious rhetoric about his road to Damascus conversion is most disagreeable. It is possible to make the argument in support of anything, even the most bizarre phenomenon, but that hasn’t prevented either of these men from falling into the trap of believing that theirs is the one true faith. If we humans knew for sure that God existed, we would be in even worse trouble.

The purpose of life is a life of purpose and it doesn’t have to revolve around religion. The late Joseph Locke’s song, “If I Can Help Somebody As I Go Along,” may be all that is necessary to motivate many people, enabling them to live a life of meaning and fulfillment.
