We need to create green spaces not concrete ones
Green spaces cover 47% of greater London: parks, squares. public greens and cemeteries - in all, some 173 sq km. These green spaces include eight Royal parks which total approximately 5,000 acres.
There are also 3,000 parks, 30,000 allotments, three million gardens and two nature reserves. Up to 60% of the City is classified as open space.
I am not comparing Cork to London but are we extending the city boundary just to give the developers more opportunities to pour concrete?
Georges Duhamel, the famous French author said: “The great beauty of a city is not in its edifices, it is in the free space between the edifices.”
