The recent letters debate regarding 1916 shows that the crumbs from the table brigade do not want the truth, or perhaps cannot handle the truth.

Irish are content to be servants knelt at feet of their masters

Maybe for this contingent acknowledgment of the truth of the Irish situation would force them to look into the minds of some the people of 1916, and dare I say it understand their motives and actions?

No, much better that we ignore the facts, as it may be dangerous. Dangerous that people know and understand the truth. Better that we accept in the face of all evidence to the contrary that Ireland under British Rule was in fact, in relative terms, a utopia.
