She has considered divorce, despite feeling undented affection for her husband.
She has never raised the possibility with him because she has not worked out how it could be done without crushing a good man. How she sees it is that it would be an affirmation rather than a rejection of his goodness, but she understands that it would be difficult to make him see it that way.
