Sanction Russia, sanction Israel

While America and Britain are calling for economic sanctions against Russia for its support of separatists in the Ukraine, there are, predictably, no such calls for any actions against Israel, as it, once again, invades Gaza and defies international law by continuing its colonisation of the West Bank.

Rather, US President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron, with the well-trotted-out line ‘Israel has the right to defend itself’, are condoning Israel’s actions. Indeed, through EU trade agreements and billions of dollars in military aid, they are rewarded.

Ironically, too, while America and Britain dismiss claims by Russians in the Ukraine to self-determination, they seemingly have no problem with hundreds of thousands of Russian planters displacing Palestinians in their own land.
