Bord Gáis sale to Centrica an act of gross negligence

With over 600,000 retail customers and 30,000 business customers for gas and electricity already established on this island together with Irish gas soon to be piped ashore, the selling, by our Government, of Bord Gáis and the modern gas power plant at Whitegate is a blunder of monumental proportions.

What’s more, Centrica, with whom the deal was made, has been embroiled in controversy in the UK for overcharging their customers and for failing to deal with the numerous complaints adequately.

The Minister will tell you that this had to be done because of Troika expectations, but a government with any brains would recognise that energy exports are the only means by which the country can recover from the mess created by the last lot.
