The resignation of Rehab chief executive Angela Kerins once again highlights the need for transparency in so many sectors of Irish society.

The move comes following controversy surrounding the low level of profits from lotteries run by the Rehab Group and her reluctance to reveal her salary of €240,000 a year, as well as the amount paid to senior executives within the group.

She said she made her decision to retire due to the impact on Rehab and on her family.
