Rugby world cup - Ireland can do good job

Don’t judge Ireland’s ability to host the 2023 Rugby World Cup on the current performance of the national team. Take it from Kiwi World Cup winner Sean Fitzpatrick who believes we have the wherewithal to do it.

New Zealand hosted the 2011 event and did what is regarded as an outstanding job. The doomsayers had predicted that the country was too small, had too few stadiums and not enough infrastructure to host such an event, but the Kiwis proved as good as their team.

The IRFU recognise that they cannot do this all on their own and will need the help of other sporting organisations. To its credit the GAA has been first to offer assistance, making Croke Park and other stadiums north and south available for the event.
