If only our abattoirs had glass walls
Naive we might be, but to those who care about animals being used as food and the inherent suffering there is news of sorts regarding slaughterhouses or abattoirs.
Already 14 of Northern Ireland’s slaughterhouses have CCTV, and possibly the other remaining six may follow suit.
While this is not a solution, it could help reduce the suffering behind the brick walls.
Of course the best scenario for so-called food animals is for people to stop eating them. It is heartening to see so many changing to a plant-based diet on ethical grounds as a result of the thought-provoking and friendly street information tables and events organised by Vegan Ireland over the last two years.
Living a compassionate lifestyle has never been easier.
It has been estimated that those who are vegan cut animal deaths by about 90 annually just by their food choices. Give it a try, there is no compassionate way to rear and kill non–humans for food.
