No banner headlines for nun’s verdict

On Friday, Nov 29, Judge Donogh McDonagh, instructed a jury to find Sr. Mary Theresa Grogan not guilty on all charges of indecent assault brought against her by seven complainants.

The judge took the decision because evidence given by some witnesses was “weak in certain aspects and tenuous in others.”

I believe that if Sister Mary Theresa Grogan had been found guilty, the story would have made banner headlines in all of the newspapers and other media outlets.

In fact, none of the three broadsheet newspapers carried the verdict on their front pages on the following day, Dec 1. Neither was it mentioned in “It Says in the papers” on RTE 1 after the 9am news.

The politically correct mandarins in this country assure us that there isn’t any anti-Catholic bias in the Irish media.

The way that the media dealt with the outcome of this trial would indicate that it is both widespread and deep-seated.
