Enda Kenny is failing in role as Taoiseach

On the subject of Mr Kenny’s competence to lead the country in Europe (Letter, Jun 8), I suggest that former Fine Gael leaders who failed to assign Enda to ministerial roles were entirely justified.

The main reason that Mr Kenny is now the Taoiseach is that he capitalised at a time that it was not yet known that the euro system depends on a flawed system of reporting (International Financial Reporting Standards).

The IFRS allows bankers to hide losses and award themselves bonuses, which they did, and the figures upon which the bank guarantee decision was made were based on these figures which hid Anglo and other losses from the regulator and the Government.
