Song fails to register for Irish supporters
It is a well known fact that the vast majority of the team highly resent the dictat from the Irish Rugby Football Union which forbids them from singing their national anthem on away games such as at Twickenham last weekend.
One look at their faces in the pre-match line up of the so-called anthem surely demonstrates this.
If the Northern Irish players are as fair-minded as I know they are, surely they could have no problem with following the home match protocol where both tunes are played?
What a unifying gesture this would be to the national team.
Although, I might suggest that if the Northern lads had their say then any tune, such as Danny Boy, the Derry Air, or even the Sash, would be far better received at the games.
More than that dreadful Ireland’s Call, or should I say... Ireland’s Fall!
