We already pay ‘rates’

I wonder how many people remember the abolition of rates on the family home in 1977?

Instead of paying rates separately, an increase in income tax was imposed to cover the cost of local services.

Thus, our income tax includes the cost of local services.

We are under no obligation to pay rates again under the new name of ‘household charge’.

Once is enough.
