Road needs upgrade

The ending of the Cork-Swansea ferry is a blow for tourism in the southwest.

Road needs upgrade

However, in my opinion, for such a venture to be sustainable and reasonably affordable it would need the commitment and financial backing of a shipping company.

On a related and more urgent issue, there is that stretch of road, about 14 miles, between Ballyvourney and Macroom that brings all traffic flow to a snail’s pace on a daily basis. It cannot be acceptable for this to continue on a national link road between our two counties.

Maybe the money saved by Cork County Council, from the ending of the ferry route could now be earmarked for the upgrading of this stretch of road.
