Ex-politicians on pensions singing all way to bank

LIKE Vincent Wood (Letters, Nov 10), I too have been given space here to express disgust and concerns about the behaviour of those whose malign ideology landed us in the dreadful place that we are now in.

Ex-politicians on pensions singing all way to bank

It is obvious to most now that it was greed, and not a desire to act in the common good, that inspired much of the “low-tax” economic policies that fuelled the bubble and the bust. But does Mr Wood really think that we could benefit in any way from hearing again from the architects of our ruin?

Is it credible to assume that they have broken free from the perspective created by selfishness and individualism and can now understand what is and what is not fair, right and in the common good? In recent times, I have drawn attention to what appears to me to be brazen duplicity in what Ivan Yates writes in contributions to this paper. He insists on demanding that the Government focus on cutting the social protection budget with little or no concern for the severe impact such cuts would have on vulnerable recipients.
