Give heads of state their proper names

YOUR report headline of July 12 (“Bill for Obama and Queen visits almost double original estimate”) on the cost to the taxpayer accruing from the visits to Ireland by Queen Elizabeth II and President Obama showed disrespect to the US president.

Give heads of state their proper names

Your headline referred to the British Head of State as “the Queen” and to the President of the United States of America as “Obama”. Surely both heads of state should have been addressed by their proper titles. Your heading should have shown either equal disdain or equal respect to both President Obama and Queen Elizabeth II.

If you felt it was appropriate to refer to the US president as “Obama” then surely it would have been equally appropriate to refer to Queen Elizabeth II as “Windsor”. Furthermore, your continual use of the term “the Queen” is inaccurate. Queen Elizabeth II is not monarch of this state and should not be referred to as if she were.
