Practice of reserving plates must stop

THE funding of the reservation of number plates by local authorities should end immediately.

It costs €1,000 of the taxpayers’ money to reserve a plate, and many local authority budgets have reserved tens of thousands for future plates, while rates are increased. This disgraceful waste of money must be immediately ended.
