WE cannot live for more than three days without water and it is also a vital resource in combating disease.

The fact that a few greedy people will be sending their children to expensive private schools and have luxury holiday homes on a charge for such a life-giving substance is, in any society, obscene. And of course, not listed in our bill, will be the actual amount paid in dividends on each share a shareholder holds. Meters could still be used to combat waste and sprinklers left on all day for those rich enough to have large and luscious gardens. So we replace property developers, with water developers?

Let’s ask our local representatives how they can sleep knowing that pensioners will not only be choosing between heating and eating, but having to cut down on food to pay for water?
